Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has heaped praise on striker Kwame Opoku for his seamless adaptation since rejoining the club.
The 25-year-old forward, who previously played for Kotoko during the 2020/21 season before moving to the Algerian and Moroccan leagues, returned to the Porcupine Warriors in December 2024.
Opoku has wasted no time making his mark, scoring his second goal in as many games during Kotoko’s 1-1 draw against Medeama SC at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday. He netted in the 44th minute to give Kotoko a first-half lead.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Dr. Ogum expressed his satisfaction with Opoku’s performance and lauded his impact on the team.
“I’m proud of him. Once he keeps scoring, he’ll gain more confidence, and his teammates will also trust him more. He’s adapted quickly and is delivering the goals—that’s exactly why we brought him back,” Ogum said.
Kotoko currently sit sixth in the league table with 28 points, just two points behind leaders Kpando Heart of Lions. The team’s recent form, boosted by Opoku’s contributions, keeps them firmly in contention for the league title.
