Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has called on his players to rise to the high expectations placed on the club, urging them to work diligently to meet the demands of their loyal fanbase.
Ogum is confident that with focus and determination, the Porcupine Warriors can challenge for titles by the end of the 2024/25 season.
Last season saw Kotoko endure a difficult campaign, finishing 12 points behind league champions FC Samartex and narrowly avoiding relegation by just five points. The underwhelming performance prompted a major squad overhaul, with over 20 players leaving and more than 11 new signings arriving to strengthen the team.
Despite these challenges, Kotoko have started the current Ghana Premier League season on a strong note, securing a 1-0 victory against Karela United in their opening match in Nalerigu.
“We should expect this team to do very well by the end of the season, to play well, and win more games,” Ogum emphasized. “Kotoko is known for winning games. And if you coach or play for Kotoko, you know that it’s a task you need to accomplish.”
He added, “You must play well and win games. So, yeah, we shouldn’t boast; instead, we need to work harder, stay determined, stay focused, and get the job done.”
Kotoko will look to build on their strong start when they host Young Apostles on Sunday in match week three of the Ghana Premier League in Obuasi.
