Carlos Queiroz has assured Ghanaians that Antoine Semenyo will be fit for the Black Stars’ FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash against Colombia after picking up a knock in the defeat to Croatia.
The Ghana coach dismissed fears of a serious injury, saying, “No, it’s just a knock; he will be alright.”
Queiroz also reflected on Ghana’s 2-1 loss to Croatia, stating that defensive mistakes proved costly. He said, “Croatia scored two goals, two easy goals. Much too easy the way they scored. When you score one more goal than the opponent, you have the merit to win the game. Simple like that. It means we make one more mistake than the opponent, and when you make one more mistake than the opponent, that is it.”
The Black Stars have now shifted their focus to the knockout fixture against Colombia, with Semenyo expected to play a key role as Ghana seeks a place in the Round of 16.
