Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has lauded Antoine Semenyo for his impressive form and recent success, describing the forward’s performances as “really, really good work” following his Carabao Cup triumph in England.
The recognition came on Monday when Semenyo arrived at the Vienna camp as part of Ghana’s preparations for upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
During the team’s first training session, Addo personally congratulated the 26-year-old after his role in Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in the Carabao Cup final.
Semenyo’s arrival was further marked by a guard of honour from teammates and technical staff, highlighting the significance of his achievement just 24 hours before joining the national team camp.
“First of all, again, I would like to congratulate you for winning this cup. Hopefully not the last cup this season,” Addo said.
“You still have some chances, I think. Really, really good work, what you have done, but also your team. We would like to congratulate you on that.”
Addo’s comments reflect Semenyo’s rapid rise since his move from AFC Bournemouth in January, with the forward now enjoying a breakthrough period at club level while competing on multiple fronts.
Despite his club success, Semenyo has now shifted focus to national duty as Ghana continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where expectations remain high for the Black Stars in the final stretch before the tournament.
