Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg has acquired Ghanaian midfielder Edmund Baidoo from Norwegian side Sogndal Fotball.
The 2006-born talent has signed a long-term deal with Salzburg, with the transfer valued at €3.3 million plus an additional €1.2 million in potential add-ons.
Baidoo’s move to Salzburg comes despite interest from two Premier League clubs. He chose the Austrian side for its reputation in nurturing young talent and providing a platform for progression to top European leagues.
Salzburg’s strong track record in developing players influenced Baidoo’s decision, making it an ideal next step in his career. He is set to join the Austrian champions for the 2024-25 season.
Baidoo, who joined Sogndal in March 2024 from Ghanaian third-tier side AsanSka Football Club, has made a significant impact. He has scored five goals and provided assists in three cup games, and contributed to 10 goals in 18 starts in the Norwegian First Division this season.
