Rene Hiddink’s lawyer vows to petition FIFA for Hearts of Oak’s dissolution after transfer ban

The legal representative of former Hearts of Oak technical director Rene Hiddink has issued a stern warning that he could push for the dissolution of the Ghanaian giants following their sanction from FIFA.

The Phobians were handed a three-window transfer ban after failing to pay the $150,000 compensation owed to Hiddink, who was dismissed just eight months into his tenure despite being appointed in July 2023.

FIFA had directed Hearts to settle the arrears within 90 days, but their failure to comply has now triggered the disciplinary measure.

In an interview with Oyerepa FM, Hiddink’s lawyer, David Winnie, accused the Accra-based club of acting in bad faith, claiming they hurried through player registrations before the ban took effect.

“Hearts of Oak acted dishonestly and sneakily. They knew the FIFA ban was coming, so they rushed player registrations. I will petition FIFA to dissolve the club,” Winnie stated.

The sanction prevents Hearts from registering players both domestically and internationally until the debt is cleared, dealing a severe blow to the club’s rebuilding project.

The ruling marks a major setback in the Phobians’ bid to re-establish themselves as a dominant force in Ghanaian football.
