Stade Rennais remains in the pursuit of Clermont Foot’s talented right-back, Alidu Seidu (23), as they submit a second bid to secure his services, according to L’Equipe.
Despite a challenging season for Clermont Foot in Ligue 1, Seidu’s standout performances have attracted interest, prompting Rennes to focus on bolstering their defense during the January transfer window.
Rennes, currently seeking a defensive revamp after a lackluster season start, is concurrently targeting Guillermo Maripán from AS Monaco.
The club aims to persuade Clermont Foot to part ways with their prized defender, Seidu.
After an initial bid of €7m with €3m in bonuses fell short of convincing Clermont Foot, Rennes has tabled a second offer of €9m upfront, excluding bonuses.
However, it is anticipated that, similar to the first bid, this offer may face rejection as it doesn’t meet Clermont’s valuation for the player, who is under contract until the summer of 2027.
It’s noteworthy that Alidu Seidu is currently with the Black Stars in Kumasi, preparing for the upcoming AFCON 2023 set to take place in Côte d’Ivoire next week.
