Hearts of Oak striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior has agreed to a pre-contract with an unnamed Swedish top-flight club for three years, according to a report filed by Ghanasportspage.com.
According to the report, Obeng Junior is expected to depart from Hearts of Oak in two months, and his contract with the Swedish club will run until May 2026.
Before joining Hearts of Oak, Obeng Junior was regarded as one of the most promising young players in the Division One League. He scored 13 league goals and three Ghana FA Cup goals in 2017, including goals against Steadfast FC in the round of 16 and Asante Kotoko in the last eight. In the 2020/21 season, he extended his contract with Hearts of Oak and ended up as the club’s top scorer in all competitions.
Despite being a highly regarded member of the squad, Obeng Junior has faced criticism from fans due to his recent scoring drought. As a result, he has decided to continue his football career in Europe.
His importance to the team was demonstrated in week 14 when he scored the only goal against Medeama SC, leading Hearts of Oak to a historic win in Tarkwa, their first victory at the Akoon Park since 2016.
