Ghanaian forward Abdul-Aziz Yakubu scored on his maiden appearance for Wuhan Three Towns as they won the Chinese Super Cup on Saturday.
The striker scored against Shandong Taisan in the 10th minute of the game to give his side the lead in the season’s curtain raiser.
The 24-year-old leapt highest to a cross from the left wing to beat the goalkeeper and ensure his team had a first-half advantage.
After the recess, Pengfei Xie doubled the lead for Wuhan Three Towns and put them through to clinching their first title of the 2023 season.
Aziz was substituted in the 90th minute of the game after a debut well played by the Ghanaian.
The player joined the Chinese side midway through the European season after a failed move from Rio Ave to Al Ahly.
