Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has called for reinforcements to his technical team following a review meeting with the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The 47-year-old tactician met with the GFA leadership to present a technical report and provide explanations for Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
During the discussions, Otto Addo outlined the challenges faced during the qualifiers and proposed the inclusion of additional backroom staff to strengthen the team’s preparation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Ghana will resume their campaign in March 2025 with fixtures against Chad and Madagascar.
Addo is currently supported by assistant coaches John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann, along with goalkeepers’ trainer Fatawu Dauda.
The Black Stars endured a dismal AFCON qualification campaign, failing to secure a single win in six matches and finishing bottom of Group F with just three points. This marks Ghana’s first AFCON absence in 20 years.
While Addo’s future with the team remains undecided, reports suggest that the GFA is likely to retain him despite the recent setback, potentially with an overhauled technical team to address the team’s struggles.
