Former Ghana international Tony Baffoe has taken a strong stance against the Sports Ministry for their failure to settle the outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queens ahead of their crucial Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifier against Zambia.
Expressing his disappointment on social media, Baffoe urged the ministry to honor the hard work and dedication of the team by promptly compensating them.
“Respect them and pay them! They have gone all out all this while! They have done a fantastic job…players, coach, and technical team! The match against Zambia is crucial…respect them and pay them,” Baffoe emphasized.
The Black Queens are owed qualification bonuses from two rounds of qualifying in the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers and the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
While they have received payment for their two-legged affair against Guinea, bonuses from wins over Benin, Rwanda, and Namibia remain outstanding. Each player is owed a total of $7,500 from the six qualifying matches.
Sources within the Black Queens camp have hinted at a possible boycott of Friday’s qualifier against Zambia if the bonuses are not paid promptly.
With their impressive qualification record for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Black Queens are eager to secure Olympic qualification and are rightfully demanding the compensation they deserve.
