Former Ghana star John Paintsil says Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo is still a good player but can no longer run as he used to be in the past.

He said the world super star remains one of the best players in the world but has lost his pace over the past few years.

According to him, though Ronaldo is no longer as fast as he used to be but when he receives the ball before you get to him, he can use it so it’s only close marking that will help Ghana defenders against him in November.

“Ronaldo is still good but he can’t run but when he receives the ball before you get to him, he can use it so it’s only close marking”, John Paintsil said.

Paintsil was part of the Ghana team that reached the quarter-final stages of the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa where Uruguay eliminated Ghana on penalties.

Ghana will face Portugal in their opening game of their fourth World Cup tournament in Qatar later this year and would be hoping for a revenge following their 1-2 loss to Ronaldo’s side in 2014 in Brazil.
