Real Tamale United (RTU) fans and management have leveled accusations against their head coach, Abdul Mumin Abdulai, alleging his involvement in manipulating the outcome of their recent match against Nsoatreman.
The Nsoatre-based team clinched a 2-1 victory against RTU at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in Nalerigu, further deepening RTU’s relegation concerns.
Alhassan Mankuyeli initiated the scoring for the home team in the 26th minute, followed by an own goal from Issah Ahmed, which momentarily equalized the score. However, Collins Kofi Kudjoe’s goal in injury time secured victory for the visiting side.
In the aftermath of the match, certain fans and members of RTU’s management have attributed their defeat to alleged match manipulation orchestrated by the head coach. Consequently, they have advised Abdul Mumin Abdulai to refrain from participating in team training until further investigation.
“For his safety, we have asked the head coach to abstain from training today. The supporters believe that last Sunday’s loss to Nsoatreman was manipulated,” affirmed the club’s Public Relations Officer, Abdul Mohammed, speaking to Akoma FM based in Kumasi.
RTU finds themselves in a precarious position in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, battling relegation. With only 25 points from 27 matches, they currently occupy the bottom spot on the league table and face an uphill struggle to avoid demotion.
