The ongoing season of the Ghana Premier League has been one of immense struggle for Real Tamale United (RTU), as the club grapples with a series of setbacks and obstacles on and off the pitch.

  1. 17 Points, 17 Goals: With just 17 points garnered from 17 games and a tally of 17 goals scored, RTU finds themselves in a precarious position in the league standings.
  2. League Position: In the 18-team league, RTU currently occupies the 17th position, hovering just above the relegation zone.
  3. Home Games Ban: Compounding their woes, RTU has been handed a three-game home ban by the regulatory body of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) due to misconduct during a match against Medeama SC in the first round.
  4. Financial Struggles: The club’s financial woes have been laid bare, with players reportedly going unpaid for several months. This dire situation led to a player revolt, as some refused to report to the team camp due to unpaid salaries and lack of transportation.
  5. Fines and Penalties: In addition to the home games ban, RTU has been slapped with a fine of Gh₵10,000, further exacerbating their financial strain.
  6. Search for Financier: RTU’s plight has highlighted the urgent need for external financial support, with the club actively seeking a financier to alleviate their financial burdens, especially as they gear up for the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

As RTU continues to navigate these turbulent waters, their struggles serve as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by clubs in the Ghanaian football landscape and the pressing need for sustainable solutions to ensure the well-being and longevity of the sport at all levels.
