RC Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed has been left out of the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers due to a muscle injury.
Ghana coach Otto Addo revealed the 23-man squad on Thursday, and Abdul Samed’s omission was confirmed by Henry Asante Twum, the Ghana FA’s communication director.
Abdul Samed joins a list of injured players, including Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, and Gideon Mensah, who will also miss the crucial matches.
The squad, which features notable players such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Salisu, and Jordan Ayew, will face Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 5 before traveling to Morocco to take on Niger on September 9.
Captain Andre Ayew, currently a free agent, has been omitted for the second consecutive time, a decision that has drawn significant attention.
The Black Stars are keen to secure a spot in the 2025 AFCON, with the top two teams from each group automatically qualifying for the tournament.
