Samartex boosted their ambitions of finishing in the top four of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Hearts of Oak at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday.
Gabriel Osei emerged as the match-winner, scoring in the 72nd minute to secure all three points for the hosts in what was their final home fixture of the season.
Samartex entered the game determined to bounce back from consecutive defeats, while Hearts of Oak arrived looking to extend an unbeaten run, despite having already fallen out of the title race.
The visitors, however, were unsettled ahead of kickoff after being involved in a minor road accident on their way to the stadium. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident appeared to have an impact on their mental readiness.
From the opening stages, Samartex showed greater urgency and controlled large spells of the game, creating the more dangerous attacking situations. Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, struggled to carve out clear chances, even though their defensive structure initially held firm.
After the break, the home side continued to apply pressure and were eventually rewarded midway through the second half. Gabriel Osei finished calmly in the 72nd minute to break the deadlock and send the home fans into celebration.
Hearts of Oak attempted to respond in the closing stages, but they lacked the cutting edge needed in the final third as Samartex managed the game effectively to preserve their slender lead.
The victory strengthens Samartex’s push for a strong finish in the standings, while Hearts of Oak are left to reflect on another inconsistent performance in their campaign.
