Former Tamale City forward Sampson Eduku has started training with Ghanaian Premier League giants Asante Kotoko, aiming to secure a move to the club during the upcoming transfer window.
The 28-year-old attacker is currently a free agent after parting ways with Iraqi side Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, where he had a brief stint following his impressive performances for Tamale City in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Eduku was a standout player for Tamale City, netting 14 goals and providing three assists in 27 appearances before making the move to Iraq in August 2023. His return to Ghana has sparked interest, with the Porcupine Warriors offering him an opportunity to prove himself.
He joined Kotoko’s training sessions on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, and will need to impress the technical team, led by coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, to earn a contract with the record Premier League champions.
Speaking about the club’s plans for the second transfer window, Coach Ogum hinted at strengthening the squad in key areas.
“In the second round, we will basically still augment the team in departments where we need to strengthen. So, definitely, we’ll do that,” Ogum stated.
Asante Kotoko, currently seventh in the league standings, are looking to bolster their squad to improve their performance in the second half of the season. Eduku’s proven goal-scoring ability could provide a much-needed boost to their attacking options.
