Sean Adarkwa has expressed delight after marking his return from injury with a goal as Wealdstone secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
The striker came off the bench late in the game and sealed the win in added time, scoring his first goal since September after a lengthy injury setback. Adarkwa credited the strong performance of the starting lineup for laying the groundwork that allowed the substitutes to finish the job.
He noted that Wealdstone were dominant throughout the contest and believed the scoreline could have been heavier, given their control and overall display in Gloucestershire.
The 25-year-old, who has struggled with repeated injuries over the past two seasons, described the goal as a rewarding moment after months of rehabilitation and limited appearances. He revealed that he is continuing extra strengthening work to ensure a full and lasting return to action.
Adarkwa also praised the unity and work ethic within the squad, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to compete strongly against any opponent going forward.
The forward reserved special appreciation for the club’s supporters, acknowledging their continued backing and the motivation he drew from hearing their chants after finding the net.
Wealdstone’s victory sends them into the quarter-finals of the Isuzu FA Trophy, with the draw set to take place on Monday, February 2.
