Rev. Osei Kofi, a legendary figure in Asante Kotoko’s history, has advised the current squad of the club to give their best on the pitch whenever they get the chance to play.

He believes that the club’s spiritual support makes it imperative for players to avoid half-hearted performances when representing the team.

Osei Kofi emphasized that the spirit behind Asante Kotoko is greater than any individual or the city of Kumasi. He urged the current players to work for the club with good intentions, as Kotoko enjoys divine backing.

“I am advising the current players that the spirit behind Asante Kotoko is bigger than Kumasi or any individual. So, if you want to work at the club, do it out of a good heart. Kotoko have God’s backing”, Osei Kofi said.

Referring to his own experience, he shared how he scored three goals against BA United in Kumasi and attributed it to the spiritual force that supports Kotoko. He emphasized that those who follow and love the club should do so with genuine hearts, warning that negative intentions could lead to suffering.

“I still can’t explain how I scored three goals against BA United in this city (Kumasi). People ask me, Osei, do you have four legs and I tell them it’s just the two I walk around with. So, there is spirit that backs Kotoko. If you follow and love Kotoko, do it with a good heart but you will suffer if you do it with bad intentions.”

Asante Kotoko finished in the 4th position in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season and failed to defend their title. With the appointment of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as their new head coach, the team aims to reclaim their title in the upcoming season.
