Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has praised set pieces as the team’s “trump card” following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Vision FC at the University of Ghana.
The decisive goal came in the 41st minute when Mawuli Wayo expertly finished a well-rehearsed set play, giving Hearts of Oak the edge in a tightly contested match.
The win ended the club’s three-game winless run and lifted them to sixth place on the Ghana Premier League table with 21 points from 12 matches.
Dramani highlighted the growing importance of set-piece strategies in modern football, stressing how they can be crucial in tight encounters.
“Our trump card has been working on set pieces because they have become very fundamental in modern football,” Dramani said.
“So when the game is tight, you can rely on set pieces to create opportunities. Honestly, we should have scored more than one from our routines today.”
This season, Hearts of Oak have consistently capitalized on set-piece situations, converting several into goals. Dramani’s emphasis on rehearsed plays has proven vital in breaking deadlocks and securing valuable points, demonstrating the strategic impact of set pieces on the team’s campaign.
