Newly promoted English Premier League side Sheffield United Goalkeeper Jordan Yamoah Amissah is set for Black Meteors call-up for Caf U-23 AFCON in June, exclusively Sportsworldghana.com understands.
The former Borussia Dortmund youth player has been contacted by coach Ibrahim Tanko and his technical team for a call-up to play for Ghana at the U-23 level.
Amisssah was on loan at League One side Burton Albion in the English third tier league and was an outstanding performer for the club as he’s caught the eyes of the Ghana Olympic team technical team.
Ghana will play hosts Morocco, Congo Brazzaville and Guinea at the tournament next month with the aim of making it to the 2024 Olympic games in Paris, France.
Ghana hasn’t been to the Olympic games since their last time in 2004 in Greece during the Athens games and are hoping to make their first appearance for the first time in 20 years.
The BBlack Meteors came close to securing a place in the last edition in Japan in 2020 but lost to South Africa on penalties in the third Place playoffs.
