Shrewsbury Town F.C. manager Paul Hurst is thrilled with the addition of Ghanaian forward Charles Sagoe Jr to the squad. The club has been in need of more options in the wide areas, and Hurst believes Sagoe Jr is the perfect fit. “I’m really pleased to get Charles Sagoe Junior on board because I think we have been lacking options in that wide area,” Hurst said.

The signing of Sagoe Jr is one that Shrewsbury Town has been working on for some time. Hurst revealed that the club was interested in the young forward earlier this year. “He is a player that we have been after for some time – we were interested in him during the January window,” he explained.

Getting Sagoe Jr wasn’t easy, as he spent the summer on tour with Arsenal. Hurst admitted that patience was key in finalizing the deal. “This summer he went away on tour with Arsenal so we’ve had to be patient to get him,” Hurst shared. He also believes that their long-term interest in the player played a crucial role in securing the loan. “I think the fact we have been interested in him for some time has helped our case in getting the deal over the line,” Hurst added.

Now that Sagoe Jr is with Shrewsbury Town, the focus is on getting him ready for the season. His pre-season was different due to his time with Arsenal, and Hurst acknowledged that the player needs to catch up on fitness. “Now we need to get him up to speed because his pre-season has been a little bit different due to him going away with Arsenal,” Hurst said. He emphasized that the team will work hard to get Sagoe Jr fully prepared. “But we will do all we can to get him up to speed as quickly as possible – whether that is off the bench or whether that is starting games and seeing how long he can go for,” Hurst assured.

Overall, the club is excited to have Sagoe Jr on board, and Hurst expressed his satisfaction with the signing. “We are delighted to get him in,” he concluded, looking forward to what the young Ghanaian forward can bring to the team this season.
