GFA Executive Council member, Randy Abbey has urged Asamoah Gyan to play for a betPawa Premier League club to stand any chance of earning a place in the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Earlier in the week, Asamoah Gyan made his intentions to play for the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup known on BBC.
The 36-year-old has only two months to earn a place in Otto Addo’s squad and Abbey has mentioned that there is still time for him to play in the Premier League once again.
“There’s one more week to the end of the transfer window in Ghana. He could sign for a Premier League club in Ghana and he has about two months to show [his capabilities],” Randy Abbey said on Metro TV.
“If he were to seek my advice, I will tell him to sign up for one of the premier teams. There’s still one more week to go for registration and use that period to prove that you can play.
“He plays a lot of tennis these days and it’s good. For the Asamoah I know, it is his mind. If he is determined to make the shape, his knee is okay…he should be fine but it is up to him,” he concluded.
Gyan last played in the betPawa Ghana Premier League in 2021 when he was representing Legon Cities. He has not featured for the Black Stars since 2019.
