Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has issued a strong warning to the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, urging caution against underestimating Croatia, a team he describes as one of the most tactically versatile sides in world football.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Adams highlighted Croatia’s impressive World Cup pedigree and their unique ability to adjust tactics mid-game, making them a particularly tricky opponent to prepare for.
“Everybody knows how dangerous Croatia have been in previous World Cups,” Adams said. “They come with different strategies, and it doesn’t necessarily mean you can rely solely on what they did before as part of your preparation.”
The minister emphasized that Croatia’s success is not based on a single system or style of play, but rather on their adaptability and in-game intelligence. He pointed out that the European side often changes their approach multiple times within a single match, a factor that demands sharp tactical awareness from opponents.
“They are a team that can change their style about three times within a single game,” Adams explained.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. While England are widely regarded as group favourites, Adams’ comments underline that Croatia’s experience and tactical flexibility present a significant challenge for the Black Stars.
With preparations underway, Adams’ warning serves as a reminder that careful planning, adaptability, and astute in-game management will be key if Ghana hopes to navigate a tough group and progress at the global showpiece.
