Sudan defender Abdelrahman Kuku shared positive feedback regarding the Accra Sports Stadium pitch following his team’s goalless draw against Ghana in the 2025 AFCON qualifier.
This match marked the first of two back-to-back encounters between the nations in Group F, as both vie for one of the two qualification spots.
Despite enduring a challenging match that saw Sudan withstand numerous scoring opportunities from Ghana—including a missed chance by captain Mohammed Kudus in the 88th minute—Kuku was pleased with the playing surface. His comments stand in contrast to Sudan’s assistant coach Ignatius Fosu, who had previously expressed concerns about the conditions of the training pitch ahead of the match.
Kuku remarked, “The pitch was good, so you can’t complain about it. We can’t say anything about the conditions. You guys had your fans, the field was what you guys picked, and it was good. It was a good game; we executed what we were told to do.”
As both teams prepare for their next clash on Monday, October 14, at 13:00 GMT, Kuku’s assessment highlights the importance of the pitch in facilitating a competitive match.
