Former Asante Kotoko legend and coach Malik Jabir has urged fans to support under-pressure coach Prosper Narteh Ogum amid the team’s recent struggles.
The Porcupine Warriors, after a strong start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, have hit a rough patch, suffering four consecutive defeats. This poor run of form has dropped them to 8th place on the league table with 15 points.
The recent home loss to Nations FC led to growing calls from fans for the dismissal of Narteh Ogum, who previously managed WAFA. However, Malik Jabir believes that the coach and his technical team need support rather than criticism to overcome the challenges they face.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Angel FM, Jabir expressed confidence in Narteh Ogum’s abilities and urged everyone associated with the club to back the coach.
“Prosper Ogum Narteh had a good start in his first season at Asante Kotoko, but he is finding it difficult in his second coming,” Jabir said. “Everyone should support him, and I believe he will succeed at Asante Kotoko,” he added.
Asante Kotoko will be looking to break their losing streak when they face Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa on Sunday for Matchday 12.
