English Championship side Swansea City have reached an agreement with Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem for the signing of Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku in a deal worth an initial €6.5 million.
The Welsh club have completed all the necessary paperwork for the transfer, with the agreement also including performance-related add-ons and a sell-on clause, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Opoku is now on the verge of becoming a Swansea player after both clubs finalised the documentation, with only the final formalities remaining before the move is officially announced.
The 22-year-old is expected to strengthen Swansea’s attacking options as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Championship season.
The transfer marks another major milestone in Opoku’s career after an impressive spell with Zulte Waregem, where his pace, creativity and attacking quality established him as one of the club’s standout performers.
Under the terms of the deal, Zulte Waregem will receive an initial €6.5 million, with additional performance-based bonuses and a percentage of any future transfer also included in the agreement.
A move to Swansea will hand Opoku the opportunity to test himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues while continuing his development in British football.
The transfer also adds to the growing list of Ghanaian players making their mark in the United Kingdom, with Opoku hoping to make an immediate impact as Swansea chase promotion back to the Premier League.
