Tanzania’s Simba SC is reportedly closing in on the signing of Asante Kotoko captain Gilbani Samba O’Neil during the current transfer window, according to Tanzanian outlet Many Sports Arena.
The Congolese centre-back is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract, pending successful medical tests. Once cleared, Samba will join Simba SC’s pre-season or ongoing training camp, where he will be integrated into the squad under the guidance of the coaching staff.
Asante Kotoko are expected to receive between $100,000 and $150,000 from the deal, with the defender’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.
This term, Samba has made 15 appearances in the Ghana Premier League, scoring twice, while also featuring four times in the CAF Confederation Cup, netting once before Kotoko were eliminated in the second preliminary round.
Since joining the Porcupine Warriors, Samba has totaled 49 appearances across all competitions, contributing three goals and one assist, solidifying his role as a cornerstone of Kotoko’s defence.
