Ghana head coach Otto Addo has addressed the recent scuffle between forward Jordan Ayew and goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi that occurred after the Black Stars’ disappointing defeat to Sudan.
The incident reportedly took place in the locker room immediately after the match, as frustrations mounted over Ghana’s disappointing performance in the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
According to sources, Ayew, visibly upset after the match, exchanged words with Ati Zigi over the team’s performance, which quickly escalated into a heated confrontation. The situation was diffused by fellow players before it could turn physical, highlighting the growing pressure within the squad as they face the possibility of failing to qualify.

“Sometimes, to be honest, teams need this to grow. Sometimes I like it better than talking behind somebody’s back, you know, to be direct and straight,” he stated. He further elaborated that addressing grievances directly is crucial for improvement. “If somebody didn’t do this or that or if someone feels that things could be better, then they have to say it because this is what makes us better,” Addo remarked.
