Ghana’s Black Queens continued their preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Senegal in an international friendly on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
The decisive moment came in the 24th minute when Evelyn Badu calmly slotted home a cross from the left, giving Ghana an early lead.
Despite being reduced to ten players for the final 27 minutes, Coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s side held firm to protect their narrow advantage. Midfielder Anasthesia Achiaa was shown a second yellow card and sent off in the 63rd minute, putting Ghana under pressure.
However, the Black Queens remained resolute and managed to see out the game, securing a confidence-boosting win away from home.
The team is currently in Senegal for a nine-day training camp as part of their build-up to the continental tournament.
They are scheduled to play a second friendly against the Teranga Lionesses on Sunday, April 8, 2025.
