Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif has won the 2022 Liqui Moly Open after defeating Bernarda Pera on Sunday.

Sherif had a disappointing start to 2022 after being knocked out from the first round of the Australian Open, Qatar Open and Miami Open.

The 26-year-old, however, compensated for these losses by lifting her first trophy of the year, when she won the WTA 125 title in Marbella.

On Sunday, Sherif triumphed against American player Bernarda Pera in both sets (6-2, 6-4) to claim the 2022 Liqui Moly Open title.

It’s worth noting that Sherif has now been crowned Liqui Moly Open champion for the second year in a row after defeating Martina Trevisan last September.
