Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has urged the team to take the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations seriously ahead of the commencement of the competition in Ivory Coast.
Ghana qualified for the continental showpiece in September, joining Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique in Group B.
The Black Stars are looking to break a 41-year wait for success in the competition, which was last won in 1982.
Appiah encouraged the present group of players to give it their all when they take their turn in Ivory Coast.
“[The AFCON] is our World Cup so it’s very important. Being part of the players that would be selected to go and play in the tournament is very huge,” he said as quoted by Joy Sports.
“For [the players], nobody should tell them how important the AFCON is. So they should go out there and play their hearts out and I am sure something will come out of it.”
The Afcon kicks off on the 13th of January 2024 and will end on the 11th of February 2024.
