Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei has expressed strong confidence in his team’s mindset and readiness as they prepare for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Ghana has been placed in a challenging Group C alongside defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. Despite the tough opposition, Ofei believes his players are fully prepared and driven to succeed.
“We are really happy, and you can see the boys are enthusiastic about the whole situation,” Ofei said ahead of the tournament. “The hunger is there, so I don’t think we need to motivate them.”
The coach praised the players’ commitment during training, saying, “They’re giving 100% in every training session and are ready to give everything for the nation.”
The Black Satellites are aiming to bounce back and reclaim their dominance on the continent by winning a fifth U-20 AFCON title, following previous triumphs in 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021.
This year’s tournament will take place from April 27 to May 18, 2025, in Egypt. In addition to continental glory, the top four teams will earn a spot at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, adding even more at stake for Ofei’s determined squad.
