Ghanaian attacking midfielder Kwame Poku has capped off a remarkable 2024/25 season by sweeping three major end-of-season awards at Peterborough United.
The 23-year-old was crowned the club’s Player of the Season, thanks to a standout campaign in which he contributed 20 goal involvements—scoring 12 goals and providing 8 assists in just 26 League One appearances.
Despite missing 15 games due to injury and other setbacks, Poku’s influence on the pitch was undeniable, earning him widespread praise and recognition from fans and teammates alike.
In addition to the top individual honour, the former Ghana U23 international was also voted Players’ Player of the Year, reflecting the high regard in which he is held within the dressing room. He further claimed the Junior Posh Player of the Year award, making it a clean sweep on awards night.
Poku played a vital role in Peterborough’s successful defence of the Vertu Trophy, helping the team to a key victory over Birmingham City in the final.
With his stock continuing to rise, the English-born midfielder is expected to move on from Peterborough at the end of the season. Newly-promoted Championship side Birmingham City are said to be leading the race for his signature, while Luton Town, Burnley, and Millwall are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
Poku, who has already made one appearance for Ghana’s senior national team, could be set for the next big step in his career as interest from higher-tier clubs grows.
