Head coach of Medeama Sporting Club, Ibrahim Tanko, has revealed that his side has already set sights on winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title, after falling short in the current campaign.
With just two matches left in the 2024/25 season, Medeama SC currently sits sixth on the league table, trailing leaders Nations FC by 10 points—making it mathematically impossible for the Yellow and Mauve to retain their title.
Speaking to Medi TV ahead of their Week 33 fixture against Asante Kotoko, Coach Tanko acknowledged that the title race is beyond reach but emphasized that preparations are already underway for a stronger challenge next season.
“The performance of the team has improved since I took over,” Tanko said. “It’s important that I start planning for next season. We have two matches left and we’ll give our best in both. The title race is over for us, and after this weekend, we’ll see who wins it. But our focus is now on building for next season.”
The Tarkwa-based club, who were crowned champions in the 2022/23 season, will be looking to finish the season on a high as they face Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 1. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
