Salis Abdul Samed, the Ghanaian midfielder for RC Lens, had rendered an apology to his team and Achraf Hakimi, show regret for his red card during their defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the French Ligue 1.

The Black Stars player received his first-ever red card just 19 minutes into the match, causing Lens to suffer a 3-1 loss to PSG on Saturday evening.

Lens had started the game brightly but were hindered when Salis, their dependable holding midfielder, was given a straight red card for a harsh tackle on Achraf Hakimi.

Following the game, Salis took to social media to apologize for letting his team down in such a competitive match. He also addressed the Moroccan right-back, stating that he had no malicious intent.

“Very sad to have abandoned the team in this way. I apologize to those I disappointed and to @AchrafHakimi . I had no bad intentions and I really regret, I apologize to all Lensois.”

With only 10 players remaining on the field, Lens were unable to match the attacking power of the Parisians. Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring, followed by Vitinha’s powerful strike for the second goal. Mbappe and Lionel Messi combined for the third goal, which was brilliantly finished off by the Argentine.

Lens managed to score a consolation goal in the second half, but the outcome could have been different if they had played with 11 players, as they had been the better team until Salis’ dismissal.

However, the PSG defender after seeing the Ghanaian midfielder’s apology, has reacted, stating that: “These are things that happen in football. Good luck for the rest of the season!”

Salis, who has been an impressive player for Lens, would be disappointed that his mistake let his team down, as a win would have put them only three points behind the reigning champions.
