Abubakar Mumuni, the head coach of Nsoatreman FC, expressed his disappointment with the officiating during their recent game against Hearts of Oak.
Despite a frustrated Mumuni in the dugout, his team suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night.
During his post-match interview with the press, Coach Mumuni Abubakar criticized the performance of the center referee, Frederick Samena, suggesting that he needs to go back to the classroom to relearn refereeing.
He argued that the referee’s decision-making was so poor that he had to rely on a human VAR to rescind the penalty decision.
Mumuni Abubakar further stated that he was unaware of the existence of human VAR in Ghana until that day.
“I didn’t know in Ghana we have human VAR until today when the referee had to resort to a human VAR to rescind the penalty decision. To be honest, the referee would have to go and relearn the referee course,” coach Mumuni Abubakar argued.
As a result of the defeat, Nsoatreman FC has dropped to 15th place on the Ghana Premier League table, just one place above the relegation zone, and must quickly regain their winning form.
