Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has expressed deep disappointment over Ghana’s failure to maintain a stadium suitable for international matches.
This follows CAF’s recent decision to ban Baba Yara Stadium from hosting Category 3 matches due to its poor conditions.
Ghana is now urgently seeking an alternative venue, with the possibility of playing their next game in a neighboring country becoming increasingly likely.
On X, Appiah voiced his frustration, stating, “Playing a qualifier outside Ghana, except in a tournament, is a national embarrassment. We must prioritize hosting our own games and protect our football pride.”
Appiah’s comments reflect the broader discontent among Ghanaians, who are upset at the prospect of their national team playing away from home for crucial qualifiers.
