The Porcupine Warriors recorded an important 2-1 home victory over newly promoted side on Wednesday afternoon at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Former Berekum Chelsea FC captain Stephen Amankonah converted a spot kick after he was fouled in the box inside 13 minutes to give Kotoko the lead.
Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala was presented with two great opportunities but the forward failed to take advantage as the first half after ended 1-0. Just one minute into the second half of the match, youngster Isaac Oppong scored a beautiful goal on the 46 minute mark to make it 2-0.
Philip Ofori scored a consolation goal for the away team but Kotoko held on to the lead to win their first game of the season.
