New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed profound gratitude and a strong sense of duty after taking charge of Ghana’s senior national team, describing his appointment as a “mission” rather than just another coaching role.
In his first official message to Ghanaians following his appointment, the experienced Portuguese tactician struck an emotional and determined tone, pledging to dedicate his full expertise and passion to the team’s quest for success, particularly with the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon.
Queiroz emphasized that his acceptance of the role comes with humility and responsibility, acknowledging Ghana’s rich football heritage and the expectations that come with leading the Black Stars.
“Football has given me a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys across the world. Today, I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment that have guided me throughout my career,” he said.
The former Real Madrid and Iran coach praised Ghana as a nation blessed with immense talent and a deep-rooted football culture, insisting he is committed to building on that foundation.
“Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul. I arrive with respect for its history and belief in its future,” Queiroz added.
He further stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and ambition as key pillars that will drive the team forward in its pursuit of success on the global stage.
“Together, with unity, discipline, and ambition, we will work to honour the expectations of a great football nation. This is not just another job — it is a mission,” he declared.
Queiroz concluded his message with a strong promise to give his all in service of the game and the happiness of the Ghanaian people as he embarks on a new chapter with the Black Stars.
