Al-Ahli midfielder Frank Kessie was delighted with the 2-0 win Ivory Coast recorded over Guinea Bissau in the opening game of the 2023 AFCON.
The 27-year-old former AC Milan midfielder believes the team performed well.
“It was a good performance from us. We knew what we wanted from the start though they [Guinea-Bissau] tried to make things difficult for us” said Kessie.
The former Barcelona midfielder, who also played for Atalanta in Italy dedicated the 2-0 win to the whole of Ivory Coast.
“We gave our people something to cheer about. This win is for you, Ivorians”, added Frank Kessie.
Ivory Coast passed the first test of their campaign through Fofana and Krasso’s goals and will look forward to passing successfully against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on 18th January in their second game of the group.
