Ghanaian international Thomas Partey marked his return to the scoresheet with a brilliant goal in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

The Black Stars captain dedicated the goal to his daughter, Alaia, in an emotional post-match celebration.

Partey’s stunning strike came in the second half, when he unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards out that left goalkeeper Matz Sels helpless, giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead. Ethan Nwaneri sealed the win with a third goal in the 86th minute, but it was Partey’s thunderous effort that stole the show.

The Gunners had earlier taken the lead in the 15th minute when Bukayo Saka scored, while Jurien Timber’s opener in the 5th minute was ruled offside.

In his celebration, Partey pointed to the stands, where his girlfriend, Janine Mackon, and their daughter were seated, before sucking his thumb—a gesture symbolizing his dedication to Alaia.

Later, Partey shared the moment on Instagram, posting a picture of his celebration with the caption: “This is for you ALAIA,” revealing the name of his daughter.

The goal was Partey’s first since scoring in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on August 24, 2024. While he hasn’t been prolific in front of goal, the 31-year-old has been a key figure in the Gunners’ midfield, filling in at right-back during William Saliba’s suspension and excelling in various roles, particularly against Liverpool.

Partey will be back in action on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, when Arsenal face Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League.
