Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing an unprecedented financial proposal for Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo as they look to steal a march on Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the January transfer window.
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are ready to break their long-standing wage structure in a bold attempt to secure the signature of the Bournemouth attacker, who has emerged as one of the most in-demand forwards in the league this season.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a prolific spell on the south coast, with his form prompting serious interest from several elite clubs. Manchester City and Liverpool are both understood to have accelerated their pursuit of the Ghana international as January approaches.
City have reportedly moved swiftly from exploratory talks to more advanced discussions with Semenyo’s representatives, with confidence growing in Manchester that personal terms would not pose a problem if the club opts to activate his £65 million release clause. The clause is believed to be valid during the early phase of the January window, placing Bournemouth under significant pressure.
Liverpool remain firmly in contention and view Semenyo as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah. New head coach Arne Slot is said to admire the winger’s power, direct running, and versatility across the front line, qualities that align with his tactical blueprint.
Tottenham, however, are determined to change the complexion of the race. Under head coach Thomas Frank, Spurs are willing to table a salary package that would place Semenyo among the club’s highest earners, signalling a clear statement of intent.
The aggressive stance is supported by fresh financial backing following a £100 million equity injection into ENIC, Tottenham’s majority owners. The investment has encouraged a more assertive transfer strategy after recent frustrations over missed attacking targets.
Tottenham’s hierarchy are keen to avoid a repeat of previous scenarios in which fees were agreed but deals collapsed due to personal terms, and see Semenyo as a marquee signing capable of elevating their attacking options immediately.
