Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford expressed his frustration following his team’s 1-0 home loss to Aduana FC, admitting that the team’s training efforts were not translating into performances on the pitch.
Aduana FC moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League with the victory, which came courtesy of Patrick Mensah’s 51st-minute goal. Mensah reacted quickly to a rebound after his first shot was blocked, slotting the ball into the net with precision. The defeat also ended Heart of Lions’ unbeaten home record this season.
Speaking after the match, Hayford criticized his players for failing to implement the strategies practiced in training.
“I told them in training that what we rehearsed wasn’t showing in our game. I asked them if something had gone wrong,” Hayford said. “It’s frustrating because this is not the first time it’s happening. It’s not once, twice, or three times.”
The result lifts Aduana FC one point clear at the top of the league, with a game in hand over second-placed Medeama SC. Medeama did not play this weekend as their fixture against Bibiani GoldStars was postponed.
