Asante Kotoko are reportedly keen to sign Dreams FC striker John Antwi ahead of the new season, with the player’s future at the Kumasi-based side looking uncertain.
The Porcupine Warriors are bracing themselves for the possibility of losing their Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala at the end of the season, as his contract is set to expire soon.
According to reports, Kotoko has been in talks with Mukwala’s camp to extend his stay, but his representatives have been reluctant to commit to a new deal. Meanwhile, the Reds have identified Antwi as a potential replacement, with the 31-year-old having impressed in his first season with Dreams FC.
Antwi has 12 goal-involvements in all competitions, scoring 9 goals and registering 3 assists. His experience and goal-scoring prowess could be a valuable addition to Kotoko’s squad, especially if Mukwala decides to leave.
The club will host Bofoakwa Tano FC in the final round of matches on Sunday, June 17, 2024.
