Karela FC’s winger, Philip Flamini, is set to appear in court on Tuesday, May 4, 2023, following his remand in police custody for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, April 29, and despite initially denying the act, further investigations revealed his guilt.
The 25-year-old will appear at the Ellembelle District Court in the Western Region, and social welfare advocate Jonas Kabutey has confirmed the incident on a local radio show.
Kabutey praised the young victim for reporting the incident to her father despite pressure from the accused. He also hinted that this was not an isolated incident in the area.
Karela FC, currently placed 11th with 38 points, is set to face Aduana Stars on Monday at 3 pm ahead of Flamini’s court appearance. The club has suspended the player in a statement released a day after the case was reported.
