In their first appearance at the U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Guinea achieved a historic victory by defeating Congo 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
Both Guinea and Congo, as newcomers to the 2023 U23 AFCON, had suffered defeats in their initial group matches over the weekend when the tournament commenced.
Today, the U23 national teams of Guinea and Congo clashed in a thrilling contest that captivated fans.
After an impressive first half, both teams managed to score, resulting in a draw at halftime.
Aguibou Camara opened the scoring for Guinea, only to have his goal canceled out by Yann Ngatse.
In the second half, Congo unfortunately scored an own goal due to a defensive mistake, while Algassime BahSalifou Soumah sealed a magnificent 3-1 victory for Guinea with a fantastic strike.
To advance to the knockout stage of the tournament, Guinea now needs to defeat Ghana in their final Group A match of the U23 AFCON.
