Samuel Abbey-Ashie Quaye is now eligible for selection after completing his mandatory suspension following the Black Meteors’ initial game in the 2023 TotalEnergies U23 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco.
The player from Accra Great Olympics FC has received clearance to participate in Ghana’s second Group match against Morocco and all subsequent matches throughout the tournament.
As a left back, Quaye was suspended due to accumulating two yellow cards during the qualification stage of the competition, which caused him to miss the opening game against Congo on Sunday.
His return is a significant boost for Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s team as they prepare to face the host nation on Tuesday evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Both Ghana and Morocco emerged victorious in their respective opening Group A matches, and a victory for either side in this upcoming match could greatly enhance their prospects of advancing to the semi-finals stage.
Following the Tuesday fixture, Ghana will travel to Tangier, where they are scheduled to confront Guinea in their final group match on Friday, June 30.
