Burkinabe international Lassina Traore played 13 minutes in Shaktar Donetsk’s goalless draw at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in Bologna against Bologna. Former CS Sfaxien defender, Alaa Ghram was an unused substitute for the Ukranians. The 23- year-old Tunisian defender is still finding it difficult to enjoy minutes for Shaktar Donetsk.

Nigerian forward Victor Olatunji in the 42nd minute doubled Sparta Praha’s lead in their 3-0 smashing of Salzburg. Salzburg had four Africans in their matchday squad in Czech Republic. Malian midfielders Dorgeles Nene and Moussa Kounfolo Yeo started and were substituted in the 57th minute. Another Malian midfielder Mamady Diambou and Ivorian striker Karim Konate came on in the second half for the Austrians.

22-year-old Togolese forward Odjessi Metsoko played 6 minutes for Slovan Bratislava in their 5-1 humiliation by Celtic. Former Dreams FC’s Ghanaian forward Sharani Zuberu who plays for Slovan Bratislava was an unused substitute for the Slovakians.

Nigerian striker Raphael Onyedika played the entire 90 minutes for Club Brugge against Dortmund. The Germans won 3-0 in Belgium. Algerian left back Ramy Bensebaini started and lasted 59 minutes for Dortmund.

Guinean towering striker Serhou Guirassy came from the bench to score an exquisite Panenka penalty to round off Dortmund’s incredible night against Club Brugge. Moroccan youngster Ayman Azhil was part of the Dortmund squad but did not get the opportunity to play.

There was no African in the matchday squads of Manchester City and Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium.

Moroccan right back Achraf Hakimi played 90 minutes for PSG in their 1-0 win over Girona.
