Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku has been officially unveiled at Spanish club UD Las Palmas.
The 28-year-old signed a two-year deal to join the Segunda Division side in the summer transfer window earlier this month, but arrived in the Canary Islands on Wednesday, August 18, to complete the necessary formalities.
He underwent his mandatory medical on the same day before he was presented to the press.
Opoku brings a wealth of experience to the club. After beginning his career with Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League, Opoku has built an impressive CV across Europe and Africa.

His journey includes spells with Tunisian giants Club Africain, Italian Serie A side Udinese, and French club Amiens SC, before his move to Turkey.
The defender arrives at Las Palmas following a solid campaign in the Turkish Super Lig. In 30 appearances for Kasimpasa, Opoku played 2,435 minutes, helping his side avoid relegation. His final performance of the season was particularly notable composed display against champions Galatasaray that saw his team secure a 1-0 victory and an important clean sheet.
Opoku’s arrival will provide valuable experience to a Las Palmas side aiming to return to La Liga after their relegation in the 2024/25 season. The club finished in the top five of La Liga Hypermotion in the 2025/26 campaign, reaching the promotion play-off semi-finals before falling to Malaga.
The signing also bolsters Las Palmas’ defensive options following the departure of several players during the summer transfer window. Under new head coach Ruben de la Barrera, the club is rebuilding with a mix of experienced signings and academy graduates.
